Details by source Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) Information is limited to on ongoing IDB projects only. Links are provided to the IDB Projects database online and to additional documents found in the IDB web site. IDB data is updated monthly. IDRC Development Research Information System IDRIS contains information on activities funded by IDRC since its inception in 1970. It is searchable online. No arrangements are in place yet for regular updates of IDRC data. International Monetary Fund (IMF) Information on technical assistance activities for fiscal year 2000 is drawn from the Annual Report on Technical Assistance. Additional information about technical assistance activities is available in the IMF website. No arrangements are in place yet for regular updates of IMF data. John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Information cover grants which were approved between January 1, 1999 and December 31, 2001 with a current status code of grant-in-force or grant-completed. It only includes grants to organizations located in Asia, Africa, South America,the West Indies, Canada or a developing country. DFID Natural Resources Information System (NARSIS) The NARSIS database provides project level information on the Natural Resources and Environment portfolio of the United Kingdom Department for International Development. It is designed to assist decision makers in planning, implementing and monitoring DFID's policies and programs and to provide information to academics, NGOs, the public and others. NARSIS can be used for the production of aggregated information reports as well as to describe individual activities in detail. The NARSIS database is maintained by the Institute for Development Studies at Sussex University. The schedule for updates of NARSIS data will be determined shortly. United Kingdom Department of Foreign International Development (DFID) Information on DFID activities cover from 1972 to the present. Where there is overlap between DFID and OECD-DAC data, the records are cross-referenced. If the logical framework for a project is available, a link is provided for the document. DIFD data is updated weekly. United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) UNCDF is a partner in the UNDP Development Group. UNCDF works to reduce poverty in Least Developed Countries through a variety of innovative approaches in both local governance and microfinance initiatives. Detailed information on various UNCDF projects and UNCDF evaluations are available in the UNCDF website. The schedule for updates of UNCDF data will be determined shortly. United Nations PopulationFund (UNFPA) Information about current and completed UNFPA activities since 1969 are included. No arrangements are in place yet for updates of UNFPA. United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Information on USAID Strategic Objectives for fiscal year 2001 is drawn from the annual report to Congress. Additional information about the programs and projects that are associated with each strategic objective is available in the USAID web site, Development Clearinghouse database and the web sites of implementing agencies. USAID data will be updated annually. World Bank Projects The World Bank Projects database contains information for World Bank lending from 1947 until the present. The database does not include projects of the International Finance Corporation, the analytical and advisory work of the World Bank or activities of the World Bank Institute. A brief description of each project is provided along with links to further information in World Bank Documents and Reports, Contract Awards and the World Bank Archives. For a full description of the information available, please visit the World Bank site (http://www4.worldbank.org/sprojects/). World Bank data is updated monthly. Creditor Reporting System (CRS), The Aid Activity data (also known as the Creditor Reporting System - CRS) come from donors, including the 22 member countries of the OECD's Development Assistance Committee (DAC), the European Commission and other international organisations. The statistics are compiled according to internationally agreed definitions and classifications. Data collection, processing and quality control is carried out by the DAC Secretariat. The database covers DAC donors' bilateral aid (including projects executed by non-governmental organisations and multilateral institutions on behalf of the donor), and projects by the World Bank, the regional development banks and some UN agencies. It excludes private grants and aid from non-DAC bilateral donors. The CRS is a major source of information on the sectoral and geographical distribution, as well as the terms and conditions of official development assistance (ODA) and official aid (OA) to over 180 developing countries and transition/emerging economies. It is designed to respond to the needs of aid agencies in the area of country and sector programming and analysis. The CRS records over 60 000 new grant and loan commitments a year and is updated on a regular basis. The reports include descriptive and financial information. The latter are given in thousands of US dollars for comparative purposes. You can search on AiDA the OECD-CRS as a whole or by members. Data from OECD-CRS is updated quarterly. Current Agricultural Research Information System (CARIS) CARIS is an international cooperative system created by FAO in 1975 to identify and to facilitate the exchange of information about current agricultural research projects being carried out in - or on behalf of - developing countries. CARIS identifies projects dealing with all aspects of agriculture. CARIS does not include information on funding sources and funding amounts. Information is provided by researchers world wide in English, French, Spanish or Portuguese. No arrangements are in place yet for regular updates of CARIS data. El Salvador Country Gateway This is limited to information on ongoing reconstruction activities in El Salvador. No arrangements are in place yet for updates of El Salvador data. Electronic Networking for Rural Asia/Pacific Projects (ENRAP) Electronic Networking for Rural Asia/Pacific Projects (ENRAP) is an IFAD-funded initiative to support Internet use and knowledge sharing amongst rural development projects in Asia/Pacific region to empower rural communities and help them address their development objectives. The ENRAP projects site provides a space for the community to share information about agriculture and rural development projects. No arrangements are in place yet for regular updates of ENRAP data. Fundacion Acceso This information focusses on activities in Latin America. No arrangements are in place yet for updates of Acceso data. Global Knowledge Activity Information Management System (GK AIMS) GK-AIMS is a set of online tools which facilitates information sharing on "who is doing what" in an area and allows for greater collaboration among project planners involved in building the information, communications and knowledge resources of developing countries. The projects and activities view provide detailed information on the specific activities in which Global Knowledge Partnership members are involved. For some activities, financial information, locations, contact names and project abstracts are included. GK-AIMS is no longer maintained. A final update of GK-AIMS data has been completed. India Development Information Network (INDEV) INDEV is a partnership initiative of organizations that include bilateral and multilateral donor agencies, the government and a number of national level NGOs in India. INDEV maintains a database with information about over 2500 organizations working in India and descriptions of activities, contact information and associated resources. No arrangements are in place yet for regular updates of INDEV data. International Telecommunications Union Information on ITU activities is included within the GK-AIMS database. The last update of ITU activities in GK-AIMS took place in March 2002. No arrangements are in place yet for direct updates of ITU data. Program and Project Information System on Education (PRISME) PRISME provides information from 27 aid organizations on externally funded education projects and programs in sub-Saharan Africa. It is maintained by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA). No arrangements are in place yet for regular updates of PRISME data. Web-based Information System for Agriculture and sustainable Rural Development WISARD is an integrated system that provides searchable information on experts, organisations, outputs and projects from the mid-nineties until the present. www.wisard.org It serves international networks, regional organisations and national systems including universities, research centres, NGOs, farmers organisations in the various continents. Participants include the CGIAR-centers, IPM-Europe, Rice-Wheat Consortium for the Indo-Gangetic Plains, FAO, several donors agencies and key international NGOs. Each of the entrees connects to relevant components thereby providing profiles, directories and links to further information. WISARD is a decentralised system maintained by organisations themselves, supported by InfoBridge Foundation (IBF). Quality control is done by Network, Organisation and National Focal Points. It provides a unique opportunity for organisations and networks to manage their own information. For further questions please refer to info@infobridge.nl. Information in the AiDA Historical Repository The DAI (Development Activity Information) database maintained by INDIX contains information provided by 17 agencies between 1995 and 2000. The agencies are:
Development Cooperation Analysis System (DCAS) The Development Cooperation Analysis System (DCAS) is a database that stores information on all development activities (usually projects) in a country. It is intended as a resource in aid coordination. DCAS makes it easier to spot overlapping efforts by different donors. Typically, DCAS is maintained in the UNDP Country Office by UNDP staff. It is not yet available online in most countries. In the pilot phase of AiDA, data from DCAS for China, Vietnam, Sao Tome & Principe, Namibia, and Kyrgyzstan were shared. No updates are planned. The information is accessible from the AiDA Archive. Mines Action Canada Mines Action Canada hosts project/activity data on behalf of the Landmine Monitor initiative. The system is under development and will be continuously updated corrected and improved. Mines Action Canada is participating in AiDA as a test and a demonstration for its own community as a potential enabling tool for data exchange within the Demining Community. No updates in AiDA are planned. The data is accessible from the AiDA Archive. Open Society Institute Internet Program Information on Open Society Institute Internet Program was shared on a pilot basis. No updates will are planned. The information is accessible from the AiDA Historical Repository. |
